'OUTLANDER' SEASON 2 CAST FRANCES DE LA TOUR HAS MOST EXCITING CHARACTER SAYS AUTHOR; FIRST HALF WILL BE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

"Outlander" season 2 casting news is everywhere over the past few months. For the sophomore run of the Starz TV series based on the novel of the same name, European actors and actresses were enlisted.

Main characters Jamie (Sam Heughan) and wife Claire (Caitriona Balfe) travel to Scotland and France and there, they will meet several people that could drastically affect their lives as couple, and the course of history.

Directors of the shows were finicky on their "Outlander" season 2 casting. They looked for artists who best suit the roles, whether in accent or physical features.

All these new characters are valuable to the story but which one should fans watch out for? "Outlander" author Diana Gabaldon says the one they are excited to reveal is Frances de la Tour's Mother Hildegarde.

"Probably Mother Hildegard because she's very familiar to all of the book readers and all they already love her to start with, so they'll be especially excited to see her and to see how well she's brought to the scene," Gabaldon said in an interview with Zap2It. "She's just fabulous."

Moore on the other hand has a different take on the most exciting "Outlander" season 2 casting.

"I was going to say the same, but I think now I'll say Bouton," Ron Moore adds. "I think they'll be most excited to see Bouton."

With all the "Outlander" season 2 casting, don't be surprised if the sophomore run of the hit TV series look different. First, Jamie and Claire will age big time and the setting is totally unfamiliar from the first season.

"It'll look and feel completely different," Moore explained. "There were no sets or costumes or props or anything from the first season that we could use for the beginning of the second, so we really had to rebuild the show. You will be watching a different 'Outlander' than what you saw in Season 1. Eventually it does return to Scotland and gets involved in the war and so on. The first half is this completely new show.
