About the MPC Gala 2020 in Edinburgh
Dear Peakers,
We are very excited to share the details of the upcoming third MPC community gathering, taking place on May 30-31, 2020.
We will once again return to Edinburgh, Scotland, and will host an outdoor activity (details of which are still pending permit approval), group training and yoga sessions at Oriam (on the campus of Heriot-Watt University), and our official MPC Gala held once again at EICC (Edinburgh International Conference Center).
At about 12 pm PST (west coast America) on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, event tickets will go on sale to members only. The link will be shared at that time via email to all members in good standing and via a post in the private community Facebook group. Tickets cost $450 (USD). As always, any and all profit (after costs) will be donated to our charity partners, Environmental Defense Fund, Bloodwise and Marie Curie.
You may use a credit card or PayPal to purchase, but please make sure that the details on your PayPal account are up-to-date and include your correct name and email address. Only one ticket may be purchased per member; the ticket must be purchased with the name you registered for MPC with; and tickets are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Names of ticketholders will be checked against our membership list.
We are looking forward to another beautiful night when Peakers celebrate Peakers!

New from Sam....
Hey Peaker!
We’re nearing the end of MPC2019. All of the amazing personal journeys, stories and achievements you’ve shared have inspired us all. And the constant support — of each other and our charities — has warmed my heart all year.
On behalf of all at MPC, I want to extend our heartfelt appreciation and thanks. You ARE MPC!
We will release MPC2020 details very soon. In the meantime, we want you to mark some dates in your calendars:
December 16 is when pre-registration for MPC2020 will launch, so get ready for next year’s adventure!
Second is January 6, which will see the launch of our annual tradition: the MPC PeakStreak! For that whole month, we will give the rest of the world a taste of what it’s like to be a PEAKER!
Lastly, on February 3, we will mark the official launch of the MPC2020 program and platform.
As usual, to keep it exciting and energizing, we are working on some pretty fantastic new additions to the program, and I can’t wait to share them with you. Registration for MPC2019 will close on November 8 so that we can turn to what’s coming next.
Once again, thanks for an amazing MPC2019, and let’s get ready to peak again!
MPC2020 IS COMING!

Stirling Run in Scotland for Cahonas for Ballsy campaign |
From April 2018
My "Ballsy" Peakers,
My Peak Challenge is all about committing to making positive change to your life, helping others while you help yourself, and having a “ball” while doing so...
This month, in honor of Testicular Cancer Awareness Month, My Peak Challenge is partnering with Cahonas Scotland, a testicular cancer education charity, to raise awareness about the signs and symptoms of male cancers. Cahonas Scotland exists to empower men to be proactive about their health, ensuring any cases of testicular cancer are diagnosed at the earliest stage possible — when treatment is more effective and survival rates are higher — and aims to remove some of the stigma and embarrassment surrounding talking about testicular health.
To promote the cause, I have committed to my own peak challenge: running two marathons in two months (one for each ball!) — Stirling in April and Edinburgh in May. To support MPC, Cahonas, and me, we have designed a limited-edition MPC + Cahonas T-shirt, available in the MPC shop, here. A full 100 percent of the profit from sales of this shirt will go to Cahonas.
Or if you prefer to simply donate directly, click here to access our JustGiving site. Note that every donation of 10 USD buys one “raffle ticket,” with the prize being my running vest — I’ll even sign it for good measure.
No matter how you choose to get in on the action, MPC is proud to bring awareness to yet another issue that can have significant impact on health. Testicular cancer has affected those close to me. It’s beatable through early detection, and I’d like to help support this “ballsy” charity in spreading this important message!

This year’s campaign aims to encourage individuals from all walks of life (yes, that includes YOU!) to reach their peak.
From setting personal health and fitness goals to learning new skills (fancy getting creative in the kitchen, in the yard or at the dance hall, anyone?) to taking up a new hobby or interest (ever tried your hand at baking your grandma’s recipes, knitting, meditating or bending like a pretzel at a yoga group?) while raising money for an incredibly deserving charity – the choice of the challenge is YOURS!
You have no obligation to buy any of the below support options to be involved and can just donate to the charity HERE.
We just thought this year we would make supporting more fun and interactive.

YOU CHOOSE YOUR CHALLENGE. WE GET YOU READY.
It all started on a mountain.
Sam Heughan, philanthropist and star of the hit TV show Outlander, was reconnecting with his Scottish roots by doing something he loved — climbing Munros (mountains in Scotland that measure more than 3,000 feet high). It was out of a desire to share that feeling of accomplishment and exhilaration — along with a firm belief in the values of exercise and its ability to unite people and a lot of experience with using his fitness for fundraising — that My Peak Challenge was born.

This is what you see daily #PeakStreak Challenges from Sam Heughan.
Last year, My Peak Challenge invited participants to choose a challenge — whether it was a personal health and fitness goal (run a 10K, climb a mountain, learn to cook) or taking up a new hobby or interest (learn a new language, write a book, meditate) — and aim to meet that challenge over the course of one weekend.
This year, My Peak Challenge is going BIG. Sam Heughan and his training camp want to give those who have chosen fitness-related challenges the greatest chance of succeeding, so they have created a 60-day training and nutrition program. Designed not only to prepare you for your challenge but also to help you create lasting lifestyle change, the program is scalable to all levels, whether you’re just starting out or have been training for several years. Thank you for joining My Peak Challenge and the MPC Prep Program!
We are excited to announce that registration is now open for the MPC Prep Program. If you’re using My Peak Challenge 2016 to improve your health and fitness (or would just like to know how Sam Heughan trains), you’re in the right place.
My Peak Challenge is a global initiative, founded by Outlanderstar Sam Heughan, that raises money to fight blood cancer. Participants are encouraged to select a challenge — either fitness-related or not — set a date in May when it will be completed, and then spend the intervening months working to prepare for it.
For My Peak Challenge 2016, we’re taking the guesswork out of preparing for physical challenges. Sam and his training team, John Valbonesi of Fight Camp Glasgow, have developed a complete 60-day training program based on Sam’s own training but scalable to all fitness levels and abilities. The program is gradual but progressive, allowing participants to get stronger and fitter at their own pace.
The MPC Prep Program features:
More than three hours of exclusive video footage of Sam Heughan — filmed exclusively for the MPC Prep Program and which won’t be available anywhere else
A comprehensive and progressive expert-designed 60-day training program
Streaming video (available on mobile, tablet and desktop) of all exercises to ensure you achieve proper form

Last year, I watched Sam Heughan on twitter creating "MyPeakChallenge" with his gym Fight Camp. Everything he did for exercise, hiking Munro's in Scotland, running thru the streets, working out at the gym, doing burpees, was videoed and tweeted.
I didn't know at the time what it was all about. What I did know from his tweets, it involved the charity Blood Wise, a Cancer Society which he said was dear to his heart from a personal experience and I saw a lot of women sending him tweets of their physical "progress", because by his direction, they got up, got moving and got healthy, but I didn't understand how working out and getting fit could raise so much money...
By following the feeds, I found Bonnie Terbush and the "Whats in the basket" Giving page and ThePeakPosse..
I reached out to Bonnie Terbush, (who I found to be lovely) and after a year of watching all the baskets these ladies filled with cool stuff to raise money for Sams charity, (and now for other Outlander cast chosen charities, which I donated to, for Caitriona Balfe) I joined ThePeakPosse for Sam's next Challenge 2016..
(I do want to say that I donated my money last year to Sams charity, after learning more thru Magic Unicorn's Cowl making project.)
I lost my mother 2 years ago very quickly to blood cancer, in a month she was gone from the day she was diagnosed. So like everyone else, I was inspired by watching Sams charity efforts.
My Challenge
My first personal MyPeakChallenge for MPC2 is simple. I work out every day anyway, it keeps me sane. If I'm not in the gym, I'm out on my street bike or running, so why not use what I love to do to make a difference for Sam's new MyPeakChallenge 2, and rally our followers.
I'm going to post fitness activities and pictures of Sam and the Fight Camp crew, and all ThePeakPosse challenges and maybe even some of my own and get our 5000 plus followers inspired. Let's donate, win raffles and feed a cure too!
As we wait for the new MyPeakChallenge 2, 2016, that will be unveiled January 2016 by Sam Heughan, Here is a little information on ThePeakPosse, and Sam's recent promotional campaign working up to his new challenge and a little bit about last years challenge for those who don't know...
ThePeakPosse
ThePeakPosse Started as an email address to encourage each other to stay involved in Sam's challenge with a support system. Now with over 400 members, there is a Facebook page devoted entirely to MyPeakPosse.
ThePeakPosse Facebook group was launched so fans of Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling books and the Starz series it inspired, would have an easily accessible outlet for sharing “common goals, health, fitness, motivation and encouragement,”
Click link for ThePeakPosse Facebook to keep up to date on the ladies MyPeakChallenge 2 after the challenge starts, and Outlander ThePeakPosse fundraiser page on Facebook or join them on Twitter @ThePeakPosse

From Dandelion Max interview:
https://dandelionmax.wordpress.com/2015/07/29/what-sam-heughan-caused-400-women-to-do/
“The Group was formed in January of 2015 in response to a challenge set forth by Sam Heughan. Sam is a fitness junkie. He challenged all of his fans to reach their ‘peak’, whatever that may be, and to get healthy by eating better and exercising. The challenge, entitled MyPeakChallenge, serves a dual purpose; to get healthy and raise funds for Sam’s supported charity,”
Bonnie and ThePeakPosse charity baskets were with the idea to raise funds in support of Sam Heughan’s chosen charity, which is a natural extension of the group’s desire to support Outlander, Sam Heughan, and the non-profit organization he supports.
In Bonnie's own words she explains why she and ThePeakPosse have turned Sam's charity efforts into their charity efforts..
It all started with Sam’s fitness brainchild but ThePeakPosse has become so much more.
Bonnie Terbush:
I wanted to go beyond Sam’s charity because the show [Outlander] is extraordinary and in a way, this is my way of giving back to the them. I mean, what can I give them that they don’t already have? I know it sounds a bit corny but if it wasn’t for Diana’s books and the series, I wouldn’t have met so many extraordinary women who have brought me so much love, laughter, support and opportunities to my life. It’s also phenomenal to interact with people from the organization and see first hand where the money is going, how it’s helping the various organizations.”
Sidenote:
ThePeakPosse is loading up another basket for the Just Giving Page, in time for the new MyPeakChallenge, which will be their 4th basket, to coincide with Sams MyPeakChallenge 2, 2016, starting in January 2016.
Bonnie, Barb and Sue, ThePeakPosse are running in the London marathon in April 2016, for their MyPeakChallenge 2.

2 ways to join in....

Advice on how to scale the exercises to prevent injury
A full 60-day nutrition plan to complement the training program
A meal plan and grocery list
Access to a private Facebook group, where you can get support from fellow MPC Prep Program participants — and Sam, John and the rest of the MPC team

Plus, by signing up for the MPC Prep Program, you are helping to support Bloodwise, which funds blood-cancer research. Fully 50% of your contribution will go to fund the fight against leukemia and lymphoma.

Week 2:
Part 1 MyPeakChallenge 2016 & 2015
MyPeakChallenge 2, 2016 A Sam Heughan Charity Project.
