Outlander star launches My Peak Challenge 2016 in support of Bloodwise.

Scottish actor Sam Heughan, star of hit TV series Outlander, has launched My Peak Challenge 2016 fundraising and fitness campaign, encouraging individuals to sign up and ‘reach their peak’ whilst raising money for Bloodwise.

The 35-year-old Hollywood actor has once again teamed up with Fight Camp Glasgow’s John Valbonesi and Bear Strength Clothing to create the second campaign of its kind, which launched on Tuesday (5 Jan). Last year’s initiative was an incredible success, raising over £60,000 for the charity which Sam has supported for a number of years.

My Peak Challenge 2016 encourages individuals to reach their peak – from setting a personal health and fitness goal to learning new skills or taking up a new hobby – whilst raising money for Bloodwise. All profits from every My Peak Challenge pack sold will also be donated to the charity, and supporters will have the added opportunity of signing up to a 60 day training programme, designed by Sam and his training team, from 1 February to help them achieve their “Peak Pledge”.

Ahead of the official My Peak Challenge month in May - when participants are encouraged to carry out the challenge they have been training for - Sam is also encouraging fans to share their progress on social media using the hashtag #MyPeakChallenge2016

Sam says: “I had this idea while working in Scotland and went to John for help. I love walking, climbing and being outdoors and I wanted to share that passion with all the friends and fans. The support last year was unbelievable, a really special achievement made possible by the dedication of so many people in achieving the goal they’d each set.

“This year we’ve added a “Peak Streak” challenge, which encourages people to do 15 minutes of activity every day until the 60 day preparation programme starts next month. There'll be even more surprises in the future but for now I challenge you to make the first step with us, choose your challenge and sign up today!”

Cathy Gilman, Chief Executive of Bloodwise, says: “This motivational campaign really captured the imagination of so many people last year and we are incredibly grateful to everyone involved for helping to raise such a staggering amount for Bloodwise. We’re looking forward to hearing all the stories of those making their Peak Pledge this year and wish all those taking part the best of luck in achieving their personal goal.”

The welcome pack is priced at £30 and is presented in a specially designed gift box which includes a limited edition My Peak Challenge Bear Strength T-Shirt, exclusive Sam Heughan print, limited edition wristband, sticker and instructions on how to take part.
